Boys’ Model, Girls’ Model
St Malachy’s has specialist status for its music education, but this partnership is based on its other main areas of strength, i.e. sports. The aim of the partnership was for the creation of a sports hub based on St Malachy’s and involving three secondary schools (one Integrated, two Controlled), a Special School and two (rising to eight) primary schools (one Catholic, one Controlled).
A number of additional activities are also included in the project:
- delivery of a NICE level 2 module on Living in Divided Societies in shared class for post-16 pupils in St Malachy’s
- delivery of a coach and volunteer education programme to post-16 pupils, supported by PGCE students from UUJ
- organisation of joint Learning for Life and Work activities for KS2 and 3 (although the details of what this will involve are unclear)
...many of the problems we have stem from ignorance and I think the children going to another school can only broaden their education.
