Centred on 3 schools in North Belfast this partnership has provided fresh educational opportunities to young people from across an area previously well known as one of the worst affected by the conflict. Although many of the issues from this time still exist, by working in partnership the three schools have demonstrated the educational benefits of collaborative learning. Students from the 3 schools 6th Form meet on a weekly basis to complete the CCEA Course in Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) additionally a larger group of students participate in full day workshops on a range of accredited vocational qualifications.
Despite the difficult local context this partnership has provided enhanced learning opportunities for their students by working in partnership, the provision of formal academic and valuable, accredited, vocational qualifications has been of real educational benefit to the young people involved. The success of the partnership demonstrates the capacity of schools to overcome traditional barriers by working together, with incredibly committed teachers and management in order to provide a wider choice for their students.
